Effective Flow Coaching
“Flow naturally transforms a weakling into a muscleman, a sketcher in an artist, a dancer into a ballerina, a plodder into a sprinter, an ordinary person into someone extraordinary. Everything you do, you do better in flow, from baking a chocolate cake to planning a vacation to solving a differential equation to writing a business plan to playing tennis to making love. Flow is the doorway to the ‘more’ most of us seek. Rather than telling ourselves to get used to it, that’s all there is, instead, learn how to enter into flow. There you will find, in manageable doses, all the ‘more’ you need.”
~ Ned Hallowell, Harvard Psychiatrist
What is Flow Coaching?
Flow coaching recognizes that permanent change and healing comes from time spent in Alpha and Theta brain wave states. I have long used flow and theta as a medicinal tool. When we face an issue, moving into a flow state to get a better look at the problem and resolve it, is one of the few ways to actively/consciously tap into the quantum computing capabilities we have while in a flow state and reorganize our relationship with the problem, perhaps even eliminating it altogether.
Have you ever notice that some of your best a-ha moments happen when you least expect it? Driving the car, washing your hair, chopping vegetables, just before falling asleep or shortly after waking? These are the simple accidental times we all produce stronger theta waves, start to tap into the quantum processing aspect of mind. That’s where the real change comes from. Theta.
Pursuing flow daily allows you time away from your constructed identity and the linear strategizing ways of the Beta wave state we all mistake for self; especially those of you working in the corporate spheres where beta is engaged most. Getting away from that self, we get to spend in our default – the authentic self. As we move into flow, the prefrontal cortex shuts down, mind chatter and overthinking stop, we lose track of time and space, and the constructed identity falls away leaving the true and wisest you.
Benefits Of Flow Coaching
Flow Coaching can help you:
- Cultivate more connection and flow based activities in your life
- Create huge opportunities to understand who you are in your authentic self
- Heal the past as that self pops up disorganized information for you to sort out and refile properly
- Living a flow filled life creates lasting authentic balance and change, leaving you radiant, calm, confident, creative and centered
- Flow shifts you so you can stop reacting to what life brings and start creating the life you want
Flow Coaching is a process that requires your effort. If you want to make lasting change, feel like more of who you are, stop your racing mind, and become the creator of your reality, then Flow Coaching is for you!
Types Of Brain Waves
And How They Affect Each Individual.
Delta waves are associated with deep levels of relaxation and restorative sleep. Research tells us that Delta waves are attributed to many of our unconscious bodily functions such as regulating the cardiovascular and the digestive systems.
Frequency range: 0 Hz to 4 Hz
High levels: Brain injuries, learning problems, inability to think, severe ADHD
Low levels: Inability to rejuvenate body, inability to revitalize the brain, poor sleep
Optimal range: Healthy immune system, restorative REM sleep
Theta waves known as the ‘suggestible waves’, because of their prevalence when one is in a trance or hypnotic state. Theta waves are also linked to us experiencing and feeling deep and raw emotions, therefore too much theta activity may make people prone to periods of depression. Theta does however has its benefits of helping improve our creativity, wholeness, and and intuition.
Frequency range: 4 Hz to 8 Hz
High levels: ADHD or hyperactivity, depressive states, impulsive activity or inattentiveness
Low levels: Anxiety symptoms, poor emotional awareness, higher stress levels
Optimal range: Maximum creativity, deep emotional connection with oneself and others, greater intuition, relaxation
Alpha waves are the ‘frequency bridge’ between our conscious thinking (Beta) and subconscious (Theta) mind. They are known to help calm you down and promote feelings of deeper relaxation and content.
Frequency range: 8 Hz to 12 Hz
High levels: Too much daydreaming, over-relaxed state or an inability to focus
Low levels: OCD, anxiety symptoms, higher stress levels
Optimal range: Ideal relaxation
Beta waves are the high frequency waves most commonly found in awake humans. They are channeled during conscious states such as cognitive reasoning, calculation, reading, speaking or thinking.
Frequency range: 12 Hz to 40 Hz
High levels: Anxiety, inability to feel relaxed, high adrenaline levels, stress
Low levels: Depression, poor cognitive ability, lack of attention
Optimal range: Consistent focus, strong memory recall, high problem solving ability
Gamma waves are a more recent discovery in the field of neuroscience, thus the understanding of how they function is constantly evolving. Gamma waves are found to be important for learning, memory and processing and they are used as a binding tool for our senses to process new information.
Frequency range: 40 Hz to 100 Hz
High levels: Anxiety, stress
Low levels: Depression, ADHD, learning issues
Optimal range: Information processing, cognition, learning, binding of senses
